My son's speech therapist told us he thinks our son has Autism?

My son will be 2 next month. The other day his speech therapist told us he thinks he has Autism. So I looked up the signs of Autism and he has next to none of them. He makes great eye contact, very loving and cuddley, very social, never wants to be left alone, responds to his name, doesn't obsess over toys.. doesnt even spin the wheels on cars, no stacking or lining of things, no rocking or head banging, very happy never throws fits, no routines, has pretend play and imitates well, He always brings me toys to show me and tries to get me to play with him.. always looks for approval Etc Etc.. the only symptoms I could think of that he may have is his delayed speech.. he is a very late talker with only a few consistant words (had hearing troubles and tubes was placed at 15 months) He doesn flap his hands.. only have noticed it when mad.. or if he has something on his hands like food or something (I thought trying to knock it off?) and he is shy around kids.. but he eventually starts to play with them just takes a minute to warm up to them. But he is never shy around adults? Could this be a mild case of Autism or is my son's speech therapist nuts? The reason's he thought he was Autistic is because he tenses when he picks him up to move him to a different place (He never tenses up for us?) He said when he babbles it's self soothing and not cummunicative.. which I do not agree with at all I will ask him a question all the time and he always responds with some kind of babble (but does babble aimlessly a lot to) and because he said it's hard to get him to engage he wants to get up and run around a lot.. He thinks we need to get him tested and of course we are but there is a 6 to 8 month waiting list and I am very concerned now. Thoughts? My son's speech therapist told us he thinks our son has Autism?
Your speech therapist isn't qualified to diagnose Autism. He's certainly got a right to his opinion, but so do you - and you know your kid better.

If it was "mild" autism, we would probably be talking about Asperger's, which is characterized by NORMAL speech development. There are kids with Asperger's syndrome who do have speech delays, but I'm just saying - it doesn't sound like classic high-functioning autism, and it definitely doesn't sound like the low-functioning end of the spectrum. In fact, it doesn't sound like autism at all.

Obviously I haven't met your kid, but my brother has autism, and I'm pretty familiar with the signs. Go ahead and get him tested if you want, but until then, don't freak out. I don't know why you have t wait 6-8 months - you should be able to ask your pediatrician for a professional opinion, or even find a psychiatrist who'll see you before then.My son's speech therapist told us he thinks our son has Autism?
I don't think he is. Doctors today are overmedicating, specifically with this autism thing. Some kids may be seriously impaired (I mean like you can tell by looking at someone) if they are mentally-challenged, but otherwise, these acute symptoms of autism, I think are just a case of a normal person who did not develop social skills. That's it. The worst part is that by telling a child they're "autistic" when they could just be "shy or quiet" then it acts as an enabler for the child. Instead of trying to resolve it, they just tuck themselves even more into their shyness and quietude. My son's speech therapist told us he thinks our son has Autism?
Ok Calm Down. When my son's speech therapists suggested autism, I thought they were nuts too. Some of the things do suggest autism, but he may have something different.. like a sensory disorder.. where he's too sensitive or not sensitive much to things around him. The tensing up part may be because he's not used to them?

My son had different symptoms. He regressed in his talking and didn't talk again for 2 years.

My son also has sensory problems. He was too hypo-sensitive. My son wasn't diagnosed until nearly 3 so it's still early.

My son also will not answer questions the way a typical child would. I will ask him something.. and he will repeat the question.. and it is an autism thing.

It's not the end of the world though if he's autistic. It hasn't been easy, but my son's nearly 5 now and he's doing great. Let me know if you need to talk or anything
Since autism is a " spectrum disorder", your son could be considered " on the spectrum" if he exhibits only one or two of the symptoms mildly. The speech therapist may not be right, but I don't think it is unreasonable for him to have suspicions based on what you have explained. Get him tested as soon as you can, and no matter how it turns out, remember that a diagnosis of autism does not change your son, he will still be the same little boy, still able to do the same things he was able to do before his diagnosis. If the testing determines that he is on the spectrum it will only help you to understand better what he may need help with and give you access to services and specialists that can help him to develop to his full potential. There is no reason to be any more concerned than you were before. Autistic or not your son will always be just as wonderful as he always has been.

HELP PLS what do u think about this situation?

My man had a couple of bad months (financially) so we haven;t been going nowhere, maybe like once a month for a drink or 2, thats it. He finaly got a good pay this month and so I was looking for more action for us (Just to let you guys know, I do spend my money on us too, specialy on his dinners I cook for him). He rang me 2 days ago saying he is going to buy wheels for his car for like 200quid and so he won't have much money for the rest of the month. I told him well, if its important to you then sure go for it , on what he reacted : Oh but u also important to me. I was obviously not happy from the tone of my voice but what could i do? If i start to blame him he will get upset that im telling him what to do. So I was hoping that he will get the message and wont buy that stupid wheels so we can spend some quality time, but yesterday.....he went and bought them. I now feel like he doesnt really care about us , all he cares about is himself. Do you think im right to be upset???

He never really gets me anything or does surprises for me...hes a good guy, doesnt drink or go out late nights but i dont know...HELP PLS what do u think about this situation?
i think you have a right to be upset definitely! But at the same time guys don't always get the messages..sometimes you have to be honest and straight forward. You should have told him and should still tell him that you didn't want him to buy the wheels and go out together and do something!!! If he still bought it then you have a bigger right to be mad!
It depends on the wheels. If the car needed new wheels, well, that is for both of you. If he bought them to show off, he's got his priorities messed up. He probably does care, but, isn't thinking right. You need to be able to tell him what you think. If you can't and he gets mad, he's not a good guy and you need to get rid of him. Seriously.HELP PLS what do u think about this situation?
Tell him how you feel. He might not realize how he is acting is affecting you.
as the man he should want to pitch in and pay for stuff. tell him exactly how you feel, and if he blows up, leave him and find a real man.HELP PLS what do u think about this situation?
it is his money let him do what he wants but also give him beans and rice for dinner see how that works out
There is no doubt that your husband loves you a lot and you obviously are important to him.you being upset is logical but i suggest try to see it from his point of view and bring these things to his notice without directly objecting to purchase of wheels.i am not an expert but it would be sad if this small issue seeds tensions in a nice couple like you..

and not that you are demanding but because you said he is a nice person, love him by having low expectation.
girl you are totally over reacting!

just being together should be enough whether its staying in with a bottle of wine or going out.

material things mean nothing

enjoy each others company and just go with the flow.
and instead of waiting for him to do these things for you why don't you do them for yourself? if you don't have a paying job, get one.
hug him then cry and then do the "self pitty thing" lol and then talk he will end up feelin sorry for ya hehe works everytime for me =) good luck
Tyres or wheels? Wheels aren't a necessity if what you have is fine. If you're already a little strapped it doesn't make sense to buy them. A nice time out for the both of you and put the rest in the till for a rainy day would be the wisest thing to do.
Were the tires a necessity or are they tires that are high dollar and he wants to drive around trying to impress people? If they were a necessity...then give him a break...If he just bought them for any other reason...dump him...because his priorities are seriously messed up....
tell him how you feel and money should be something you two need to be together and spend quality time together

What is the best cage for rats for under$60? Petsmart brands?

I am gonna buy my cage on Saturday from petsmart, I'm looking to figure out what the best cage is to house 2 female rats. My budget for a cage is $60. I would like it to include the water bottle, food dish, and exercise wheel ( are there wheels necessary?)

I am willing to pay up to $80 if need be but no more. I want Athena and Lilly to be as happy as can be for as long as can be.

I understand petsmart doesn't have a lot as far as top quality cages at low prices, but I don't have another pet store within 50 miles of me.

So what is the best bang for my buck at petsmart??

I want best quality and with at least 2 levels with plenty of room to customize with huts, hammocks, toys, etc.

Thanks!!!

Please be sure to include a link to the specific cage so I know what to look for when I go there. What is the best cage for rats for under$60? Petsmart brands?
It's impossible to know which cages are offered at your specific petsmart, but I will advise you to not rule out looking at bird cages. They're often taller and therefore have more room. You can buy plywood if you have a means of cutting it for levels and wire to hang it up, and buy a bird cage which will definitely leave more room vertically for huts and hammocks and levels and whatnot. I bought one of mine, a Prevue-Hendryx cage (http://imgur.com/hyFHC) for about fifty dollars. Typically a rat/gerbil cage will be longer but flatter and I like my girls to have room to climb up!

Any suggestions for this worker's comp situation?

I suffered an injury due to a fall at work approximately 2 years ago. I was attempting to sit down in a chair, it was a high chair with wheels and a ring on the bottom to put your feet on. Anyway, my left foot got tangled in the ring and the chair pushed away from me causing me to do a split and I fell. (I don't know if this makes any difference, but the chairs were inappropriate for use on noncarpeted floors and other people had fallen using them.)

The diagnosis at the time was a hamstring sprain. I missed several days of work. The time off and the medical bills were paid by worker's comp. The leg never felt right after that. I had been treated by the doctor at employee health where I worknad have been to see them many many times since. I really thought that the hamstring just needed a long time to heel. About a year ago, I went back to the doctor at employee health complaining that my leg still didn't feel right and that I still had pain. So for the last 10 months or so, I have been going back and forth to an orthopedist, cortisol injection, employee health, 2 MRIs etc. The diagnosis is a torn meniscus that will require surgery. I am 100% convinced that the injury resulted from the fall because my walk has been affected and this was apparent to me from the time I started walking without crutches. I did not have problems before and I am tired of hobbling around like a gimp. After seeking a second opinion, I have scheduled surgery for Oct 23. So today I get a call from the woman handling my case at workers comp. She says they want me to see an "independent" doctor to evaluate whether my injury is a result of the fall...and oh, they made an appointment for me on Nov 3, so my surgery will have to be rescheduled. Now I have already seen 2 orthopedists plus the doctor in employee health, so that's 3 doctors who have all said that my injury is consistent with the fall that I had but for some reason, their "independent" doctor's opinion will supercede these other doctors.

I know it has been a long time, but it's not my fault the crappy *** doctor in employee health missed that I had another injury besides the hamstring tear.

I guess my question is, what are my rights? I'm not surprised that worker's comp is giving me a hard time, but I am not happy about rescheduling the surgery. I have health insurance, but there is a $500 deductible and copays for prescriptions, physical therapy etc, that I'm sure will add up. Also, I do not get a lot of paid time off and I do not want to use it here. Can I have the surgery anyway then if they refuse the claim, deal with the hassle afterwards? I have MRIs, x-rays, doctors reports for 2 stinking years, isn't that enough? If I notified my health insurance that the injury is work related, won't they want to fight it out with worker's comp? Any suggestiosn would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Any suggestions for this worker's comp situation?
I agree w/ Dr Les. You need to get a workers comp attorney asap. My husband has been going through the same thing for nearly 5 years with foot problems related to a work injury. Luckily, he knew some other people from his job that had had w/c claims. When they tried to assign him their chosen dr, we already knew this was the guy that they send people to when they want to get rid of the claim. We got an attorney %26amp; he already knew about this dr. He filed a motion with the board of workers comp %26amp; they agreed that there was no reason he should have to go to another dr when he had been receiving appropriate treatment all along. Be sure that your current doctors can document everything that has taken place, and that they agree that your current problem is related to the initial injury. Their statements will go a long way. It seems like everything you do is never enough. You really need the influence of a good attorney that knows the ins %26amp; outs of the law before the insurance company takes advantage of you.

Good luck!Any suggestions for this worker's comp situation?
A co-worker is having the same problem from a 3 year old injury. Her doctor said surgery and WC said no. So instead of my friend getting an attorney, she took the time off under FMLA and had her health insurance pay the bill which now WC is no longer involved. She will be out of work for 8 weeks on her own time. Hang in there and see their doctor or get an attorney. I had to see a WC doctor who agreed with my doctor's finding which worked out well. Best of luck.

P.S. Be ready to tell the WC doctor your whole story from the time of the injury along with dates, pains, medicine taken, and how the injury still effects your life in general.Any suggestions for this worker's comp situation?
Your failure to let the injuries get examined by the workers comp doctor, before surgery, will pretty much guarantee that they're off the hook for everything.

Most likely the health insurance company also doesn't have to pay for a work related injury (it's written into the policy that way, in most states).

Going ahead with the surgery could mean YOU foot the entire bill for this. Why don't you call the adjuster, and ask if you can have the appointment moved up to sometime this week or next, so you can keep the same surgery date.

You have to play the game. Sorry.

But my big question - and maybe theirs, too (although I'm not a doc) is twofold:

1. After going for most of a year without treatment, how do they know that the tear was actually caused by the original fall, and not a subsequent fall?

2. Can you GO for almost a year without treatment for a torn meniscus? I'm going to guess, that if it really is two years old, you're going to see some serious healing showing up on the MRIs, even if it's scar tissue. You can TELL the difference between an older injury and a newer one, on the MRI. I'd strongly suspect you did something to aggrevate it - which workers comp would not necessarily be on the hook for.
You need to talk with a lawyer who specializes in comp cases. He will send you to his doctor and you will go from there. You should have done that when the accident first occurred. I hope it is not too late.

Best of luck

It makes me sort of pissed off when....?

It makes me sort of pissed off when I invite 3 best friends I've know since grade school over {(2 guys friends (Drew and Evan) and a female friend (Hannah)} and all of them don't know each other (I am trying to get them to know each other better),

then Drew and Evan start chatting and everything buy they ignore Hannah...for 2 hours or so.

Hannah and I tried to get in their conversation about people that we all knew...we failed. We felt like a...3rd wheel (or in our case 3rd and 4th wheels?) so we just left the room and chatted without them.

I invited them so they could get to know each other better and they ignore me and Hannah? :(

Should I feel pissed off that they ignored us? Or should I just feel happy that Drew and Evan have met each other and are friends now.

And I really wanted to see if Drew and Hannah got along because I think they have a lot in common they would be ...a perfect couple. (They didn't know that though.)It makes me sort of pissed off when....?
You're allowed to feel however you feel, but I wouldn't stay mad at them too long. You wanted them to get along and at least 2 of them got along. It's hard on a group setting for everyone to know everyone else at once unless there's an activity to help. My suggestion would be invite Drew %26amp; Hannah out to lunch, but be prepared you might be 3rd wheeled yourself (you have to be if you want both of them to have an excuse to be there).

If you want to group it again try suggesting a game. My personal favorite 4-player game is caranium or Phase 10 (and they're pretty cheep at wal-mart).It makes me sort of pissed off when....?
it's normal, especially with guys. don't expect too much

  • What are some ideas to customize my bike?

I've had a Trek 2.3 road bike for about a year now and I'm thinking it might be fun to do a little customization with it, make it not look like all of the other Treks out there. I'm happy with the performance of the bike so I'm not upgrading components or wheels or anything like that, and I'm not painting anything. Also, I don't want to spend hundreds to customize the bike but I'm not setting a specific budget yet. Here's essentially what my bike looks like: http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/200鈥?/a> I was thinking maybe getting colored hbar tape or housing or something like that. What other ideas do you have? Be creative! What are some ideas to customize my bike?
Bar tape, a new saddle, colored housing, colored tires, a new stem are all good choices. Have fun.

Which one of my poems is better? There are 4!?

    1) Hero

A hero doesn鈥檛 have to fly, or be really strong,

It just matters what they do all the day long,

They might be scrawny or week,

It鈥檚 not how they look, but how they speak,

They might be stuck in a wheel chair,

But they always manage to care,

Neither size nor height should be a tool to judge,

You might loose a friend because you begrudged,

Always cease the moment to make yourself a friend,

Cause you might go with out one to the very end,

That person who you left behind,

Might have been the hero kind.

    2) Happy 14th Birthday!

How old will you be this time in the year?

Fourteen is that right? Is that what I hear?

Fourteen what an age a time to be proud,

You might even cheer or be really loud,

You鈥檒l get presents and hugs so be really bright,

You might even change in ways like your height,

You better remember this day till the end,

Cause this day will never come again,

Fourteen then fifteen then sixteen two years,

You鈥檒l be driving a car that has great old wheels,

But even though you can鈥檛 wait to drive,

Remember the days where you鈥檙e free and alive,

No car, no payments, no flat tires,

No messing with the little old wires,

Fourteen is great so be happy while you鈥檙e there,

The only thing to worry about is your friend鈥檚 in your hair!

    3) Happy thanksgiving!

Make yourself welcome and take off your hat,

Don't eat too much or you'll become fat,

Take off your coat or you'll become sweaty,

Gather around and pull out confetti,

Eat your food, and get your fill,

Don't eat too much or you'll become ill,

A turkey, potatoes, some gravy a pie,

Go ahead eat, and don't be shy,

Eat; eat, to your hearts content,

Get up, leave, and don't relent,

Hope you enjoyed the dinner we made,

We won't let you leave until you've paid!

    4) Merry Christmas

    Its Christmas time at last,

    Whip the tree out fast,

    Wrap the presents quick,

Make sure you wrap them slick,

Rip them open look with glee,

You might even get a new TV,

Turkey for dinner maybe a ham,

Look at that food, look at that yam,

The stockings the presents the really good food,

You better watch out, don鈥檛 be in a bad mood,

But lets not forget the reason for this day,

The little boy who was laid in the hay,

Mary and Joseph the baby-new born,

People pushed him away, people scorn,

Cherish this day cause its one to remember,

Cherish this day, the twenty-fifth of December,

    Remember the reason,

    The reason for this season,

The baby boy who lay in a stable,

The one called Christ, he鈥檚 not a fable.Which one of my poems is better? There are 4!?
I like all the poems you posted

it was hard to decide exactly which I like

The first poem is about being human

and treating people the way you like to be

    treated.

The birthday poem is about or for someone

who has a birthday. With one year

they are growing up and maturing.

The last two poems are the thanksgiving poem

it is about the fixings of the meal

including the ham and or the turkey.

Christmas is about the birth of baby Jesus

    Mary and Joseph.

Christmas is not too far away

I like the lines cherish this day 25th of December

All the fish in my tank are dying, why?

I have a 60 gallon saltwater tank that I set up about 3 months ago. I started off with Damsels, and gradually added other species until I had an nice colorful mix once the tank was well established and had cycled properly. We lost 2 damsels and a tomato clown in 2 weeks, then things went well for about 3 weeks. Everybody was happy and friendly, including the damsels (3 small) tomato clowns (2 small), horseshoe crabs (3) small dog-face puffer, yellow tang, fire fish (2) and one peppermint shrimp. Now they are dying at an alarming rate. We did get a reddish colored algae of some sort showing up on the glass, and I treated for it. The instructions said to remove my carbon filters and turn off my protein skimmer, so I did. Even with the treatment and limiting filtration, i am still losing fish. The only thing that is different as far as I can figure out is that I bought my saltwater from the fish store rather than making my own using instant ocean. We are running a 350 and 200 bio-wheels (carbon filters changed every 2 weeks), and a good quality protein skimmer. Any guesses or suggestions? I have tested and the ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and ph are all reading really excellent (the best readings I have gotten since I set up the tanks with colors exactly matching the comparison cards). Please help? I only have my puffer, 2 damsels, 2 horseshoe crabs and my peppermint shrimp left and they are starting to look poorly! All the fish in my tank are dying, why?
How often do you perform water changes? What's your temp at? I'd perform a 30%-50% water change immediately. Are you sure to wash your carbon filters after every change? Was your tank cycled?

    EDIT!

-At once every two weeks, you're changing your filter cartridges a *bit* early, but I doubt that's the problem here (unless you are cleaning so well the biological bacteria are being killed on any decor, in the gravel, and on the filter media). What are your water parameters (nitrate, ammonia, nitrite)? Airation may be an issue here, though I can't be positive. Make sure that when you are cleaning any part of your tank (except the glass outside!) to never use regular, untreated tap water or any sort of cleaner.
They might not be liking the sudden change of water (from instant ocean to ready-bought)

Big big big nono :) Option? If you ahvent already tried, I would try throwing back in 50% instant ocean one day, and again the next day, and again the next day.

Make sure you use a siphoning technique to get water in and out to avoid stressing the fish out.All the fish in my tank are dying, why?
some fish may not need to be in saltwater and maybe your not feeding your fish properly. you don't need to change the filters a lot. once per 3 months would do. u may also need those long tubes you put into the water. my fish die a lot too but after i put the long tube you put into the water my fish didn't die anymore.
    1. I can't tell if you're saying the tank has had fish the whole 3 months, or just about 5 weeks, either way, this is a salt water tank, and rules that are easy to break with freshwater, are not going to be as easy to get away with now.
    2. tank will eventually be too small for the puffer
    3. red algae is actually a bacteria, and means you have or had too much waste, the treatment sometimes can screw up your biologic filtration. And turning off the protein skimmer only makes matters worse. Yea, I know that's how the treatment goes. But reducing the waste would have been the first thing to do.
    4. shouldn't even need carbon all the time and if there's any ammonia removing filter material (white rocks) stop using it. I never ever use the ammonia removing filter materials, they all cause problems.
    5. and turn your skimmer back on.
    6. do a small water change, and pay attention to the salinity and your choice of water conditioners, it's the one thing you didn't mention. I use Kordon brand, Amquel and Novaqua. Don't use Ammolock.
    7. unless this is a reef tank, don't get shrimp or other crustaceans, I'm still surprised you even have a shrimp, perhaps you're overfeeding so much that the puffer hasn't noticed him yet. But a puffer will eat the shrimp first, and eventually start chewing legs off the horshoes.
    8. yea that too, are you overfeeding? I thought so.
    9. 60 gallon with regular petstore filters is not going to be easy, the tank is small, and even bio wheels are not always up to handling a salt water tank, especially without regular water changes.
    10. So, rethink what you expect out of this tank, and find a more realistic bunch of fish and think less fish and less food, especially until you have some better success, then you might have a chance.

edit, I re-read your question, and you had fire fish too? yea, ok, you really need to slow down there and get really hardy fish only. You've already tried at least 3 or 4 completely wrong fish for a 60 gallon and a couple that only routinely live in the healthiest of reef tanks. Either you weren't listening to the fish guy/gal at the store, or they were idiots. Try again when the tank settles down. All the fish in my tank are dying, why?
Peetr is on the right track.

The tank is still new, barely cycled and you are stuffing all sorts of random fish in there.

The red algae is a sign of things in the tank not being in "balance", excess nutrients are feeding the bloom of algae or bacteria. Sure you can add chemicals to kill that off, but that is only treating the symptoms, not the underlying cause of the problem. The chemical treatment and lack of the protein skimmer then make the water quality even worse.

No more fish, work on getting the tank stable and stocked properly, do some extra water changes etc. It's not a competition to see how many fish you can stuff in the tank

Why is my 1998 Malibu such a Hassle!?

When I first got it I had to pay for the O2 Sensor, EGR Valve, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Front Wheel Barren, and now I have to get a Thermostat, Coolant Flush and Sealant. I need to know if I did the right thing. I will be leaving my car to go out of town for 2 months, when they told me that I would have to spend 300 because I have an air bubble in my Dex-Cool line. I decided that I had enough and took it home. I put some Dex-Cool in their because it was completely empty (can u believe Midas did not tell me when they changed my oil) and I let my car run with the cap off of the antifreeze. Long story short, the Dex-Cool boiled over and then went down. I filled it back up to the cool fill line and now my heat works and my car is happy. Do u think the problem will come back and do u think I should get a flush and thermostat? Note if u are thinking about buying one of these cars think again I put near 2,000 in it already and I still pay a note! This is my first car and my first lesson! Why is my 1998 Malibu such a Hassle!?
do not go to Midas..bottom line. wow, its kinda hard to believe that your car needed all that maintenance!!! you must have spent a chunk of change for that. yes flush and thermostat. if you like Midas than go for it. I've just heard to many horror stories about that companyWhy is my 1998 Malibu such a Hassle!?

  • Would you go back to her?

My girlfriend and I have been together or 2 years now - the whole time we've been together she has been married still but has been separated from her ex. We've had our ups and downs. In December last year I proposed to her by writing a book of poetry for her, with the last line in the last poem, asking her to be my wife, she said yes and I was thrilled.

In March this year, where she was living with her 20 year old daughter, in an apartment, her rental agreement expired and as such she had to move out - she was offered the choice of living with me at my house (I am renting a house), moving in with her older brother or living with her ex who had just bought a house with inheritance money. She chose to live with her ex, saying that it would be cheaper and easier as when she sought a formal divorce, in her view, it would help her case to get a 50-50 split of assets - I should mention, about 30% of the money used to buy the house was my girlfriends who her ex had taken from a joint account.

Anyway, I was not happy at all about this as the ex is very controlling and still thought they were together. Against my better judgement, I agreed to her moving in on two conditions, 1) she would tell him not to interfere with us as a couple, 2) she would put the wheels in motion for a divorce... not unreasonable I thought. For about 2 weeks this worked, then the ex began to steadily gain more and more control over her, making demands and she gave in, first not seeing me as much (we used to see each other about 5 nights a week, this dropped to 2 or so), then not able to call or txt when she was at home and he was around, then not seeing her at all as it annoyed the ex... I was not a happy camper! At the end of April, finally, she and I went to see a solicitor about a divorce - I took time off work to be there for her. That night, she said that she wanted to be with me and stand up to him - it didn't last and that night when having dinner, he called and made threats to her and I - we both went to our respective homes but I reported this to the police, partially to cause trouble for him and also because he had no right to threaten me. The next day I took my engagement ring off and told her clearly that I would not see her or put the ring back on until she left him once and for all - what it was doing to our relationship was so destructive.

She then said she understood and agreed but had to stay in the house a bit longer as her daughter was living there and it was her 21st birthday at the end of May and she was worried that the ex would stop her being involved with that if she left now. Again, against my better judgement, I said fine - I did not see her at all during the month of May but we still txt'ed.

The end of May came and went and I said, well, come on then, and she then said, oh it's complex, I need to do this and that, give me a week. So I did. Then that came and went and she did come to me, saying this is it, I'm with you, stayed the night, then promptly went home back to him and that home the next day. I was hurt and crushed and felt so betrayed. She said she was sorry and wasn't sure why she went back - I then pretty much was ready to, with great pain, walk away but she begged me to give her another two weeks and then, she promised, she would find the strength to leave... so, again, I out of love for her, gave her that time. She came back to me again, this time again staying the night... I left for work that morning and when I came home she had left, again.... I was not happy, was again crushed and betrayed and this time was ready to walk away.

I said, enough is enough, you are where you want to be clearly, and I've had enough of being jerked around. She then said she was going to Melbourne to be with her Mother and other brother for a week and would, she promised, come to me when she came back... being the idiot that I am, I gave her that time.

Well, she went to Melbourne, sending me lovey messages and saying how much she loved me and when she came back, after a few days stuffing around, did come to me, this time "for good" - guess what happened? She stayed the night, then went back to him, saying he's dying of cancer and she had to do the moral thing and stay there for a year, which is how long he has left. Not this time I said, and this is where I'm at now, I've walked away, tired, weary, exhausted, betrayed - she is begging me to forgive her, txting, even came to my office today in tears.

I am torn, I know I must sound like a complete fool for thinking she is genuine but seeing her so sad today in tears, saying how she stuffed up and promised not to leave this time makes me feel a bit unsure.

I should add, we're both grown adults, she's 42, I'm 29 (yeah yeah, older woman, get over it) and she assures me that she isn't in love with the ex - for me that doesn't matter as she still can't seem to leave him.

What |||I would like to preface my response by saying I am so sorry you are going through this I know this must be heartbreaking.

If she is 42 and is just now going through this divorce, I would assume the 2 of them were married somewhere within a 15-20 year span, maybe longer and even though they are going through a divorce, she does love and care for him. You can't possibly expect her not to still love a man that is the father of her children and that she was with for so long. In a perfect world she could just get over him and y'all would live happily ever after, but that's just not plausible. She obviously isn't able to let go, especially now if he has cancer, she will be by his side. If you do give her a second chance it will just be a vicious circle, she wants to be with you but she feels like she can't, especially if he uses her kids as leverage. A mother will always choose her children over anything. You will just get hurt over and over again. I wish I could assure you that I see a glimmer of hope in this story, but I don't. I'm so sorry.|||Give her one more week, and if she doesn't do it, ask her why. And then if you truly believe she isn't with you, then you have to do what your heart tells you.|||:( That's So Sad... There's Only So much One Person Can Put Up With For love! If that's where she'd rather be then I wouldn't... And wow making threats? He couldn't just man up and talk like a grown up?! I delt with the same thing myself almost three years ago... But he wasn't married and she was horrible to him... She'd only call him when she wanted money or just to get mad at him take her anger out on him... And he kept going back... So I just said one day "if that's where you're heart lies and that's how you want to be treated then it's your loss" it hurt like he'll to do that but I had to it's too hard to live like that but it's going to be three years for us next year and she is no longer bothering us and were happy so I do Belive in the saying "If you really love something let it go And if it comes back then it's yers forever" I just wish it worked all the time...|||No. Don't do it. Honestly, she is not going to leave him for you, and she's proven that time and time again. You need to explain to her you are not willing to deal with being played around with, and I don't even know you, but I can't help but feel mad at her for you. Just let her go. You'll find someone better, who isn't married, and who will love you completely and be there for you.

And I somehow get the feeling you want her to be with you because you feel pity out of her and her bad relationship and want to give her something better because you care. But if she truly loved you, she'd leave him and have the guts to.|||NO you have given her enough time. she had all that time with him when they were married this is sopposed to be your time. leave her and make her chase you like she did today. make her feel the hurt that you feel, go out with other girls and enjoy the rest of your life without her. sorry dude but se sounds likea total "you know what". just move on and forget about her. oh yeah and go whooped her ex's butt. like foreal cant see you or call you when he's around, cuz hes jelouse well he had his chance and messed it up. dont go back to her shes obv. not over her ex.

Driving across country.. Washington to NC. Any tips, pointers, etc? ANYTHING HELPS!!?

Husband is getting outta the Army, he got 80% disability. We're doing the Dity move. We will have around 7-9k pounds of stuff. We're probably going to go with Budget rental. We were quoted for the 24' truck and the all four tires off the ground car pull at around 1600, My mom is looking at pricing because she thinks she can get it a little cheaper than that, so hopefully around 1300ish or something.. and then with gas I'm assuming that'll be anywhere from 1k to 1500 which is what I'm also getting quoted at. We don't plan on doing hotel trips often. Probably every 2 days? Just to save money. Just to shower up and get back on the road. My husband is trying to avoid the mountains so we may go down towards CA and then across.. We honestly need ideas.

We DO have 2 pugs, they are obviously smaller dogs. With the car pull, its all 4 wheels off the ground, would it be safe to get a kennel and put them in the back of the car along with like the cooler with food, etc.

    MY QUESTIONS ARE;

    1. Is there any good like deals on truck rentals?

    2. Would the 2 wheels off the ground of 4 wheels off the ground be safer, or does it matter? The reason I'm thinking 4 is so we can put things in the car.. and also, it won't hurt the tires, etc.

    3. My husband is afraid of driving the truck, literally afraid. Any tips or is it really as hard or as easy as people are saying?

    4. Food ideas to take with us? Whats things we can put in the cooler that will be like cheaper than stopping at Mcdonalds, Taco bell, etc?

    5. Is there any easier way to travel with dogs? I'm being told that I could put them in the front with us because its able to fit 3-4 adults in the bigger trucks, so I may do that.. but any tips traveling almost 3500 miles with 2 pugs? Any medicine for them? Any tips for peeing and pooping, etc?

    6. Any ideas how to make this trip cheaper?

    7. Any people that have done the Dity move that can tell me how much they got, etc?

I just need a lot of help and the person with the best answer gets "best answer", and itll make me really happy. ANY advise would be amazing. We plan on taking turns with driving, but driving as much as possible a day.. any things that may make the drive better? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

-The "Nervous" family.Driving across country.. Washington to NC. Any tips, pointers, etc? ANYTHING HELPS!!?
From an expert....driven many trips, worked as a truck rental agent too....

    1. You will get the best deal (and best truck) from Budget. Here is a secret.....don't tell ANYONE about this cause it's a secret...really.........Budget will make deep cuts in their price but you need to negotiate. Start by going to Uhaul and tell them your Budget rate, then see if they will beat it. Not by a few bucks, you are looking at a $1600 rental. Get it knocked down a couple hundred (yes you can!!). Then take your deal to Penski and do the same thing. Work these two guys until you get the best deal.

THEN.....now here is the REAL secret part...call your LOCAL Budget dealer. Don't mess with the website or call center, call the dealer. And not the big corporate owned ones, but the affiliate dealer that also runs a storage facility or some other business. Try to schedule your pickup for a weekday, when things are slow and they are desperate for business. They have a special phone number they can call to get special rates in order to beat the competitors. If you do this, you can easily knock that $1600 bill down 20%.

    2. The car hauler is always better if you are taking a car more then 300 miles (my opinion). Advantage is it's more secure to carry, will do less damage to the unit then the tow dolly, and you don't need to disconnect the driveshaft (some vehicles). Disadvantage is they are more expensive, can be tricky for inexperienced driver to maneuver (especially with a 24' truck). Being automatic drive, they can be difficult in mountains. They are slow going up steep grades, you don't want to ride the break going down hills....downshift!!! The key to your trip is taking lots of breaks, swapping drivers frequently, and never drive when you start to get tired. I have a small dvd player so I can watch (well...listen) to something if nothing good is on the radio.

    3. It's understandable to be nervous. You are use to driving a car 17' long, now you are in front of a huge truck and trailer. My wife was the same way, but after a while she looks forward to it. You just need to drill it into your head that you have 50 feet of truck/trailer behind you, and you need to make VERY wide turns, and leave a lot of room in front of you to allow for stopping. In urban areas this can really be a challenge (driving in the northeast is a nightmare). But you will be on open roads, not a problem. Take your time...don't go over 60. You are going to get drivers passing you and flicking a finger at you because you are holding them up. Not a problem, get a hand sign telling those drivers to F*** O**.

    4. Food and drinks = more bathroom breaks. Guys don't have a problem..women do (I don't go into those details...). On my trips I have a cooler with sandwiches and vegi-snacks. But after a couple days of that you will look forward to a decent restaurant dinner.

    5. Budget trucks have a "bench" seat that runs across the cab. There is plenty of room to let your dogs run loose without confining them to a kennel (as long as you aren't packing a lot of stuff in the cab area. I would discourage putting them in your car while it's on the trailer. And unless they are a very hyper dog, or have a tendency to get motion sick from riding in cars, you should not have to medicate them. You should stop every 2-3 hours to give them (and you) a break.

    6. You said you plan on stopping at a hotel every couple of days? Where/how are you going to sleep in between? The truck is not going to be very comfortable or practical. Do your research and you should be able to find some dirt-cheap rooms. Still gonna do the "sleep in the truck" thing? On one trip I simply left a few feet of space in the back, packed a sleeping bag and inflatable bed. After doing this a few times I chose the $29 motel room.

    7. Spend a few dollars for a GPS....plan on making an occasional wrong turn and trying to figure out where the heck you are at. Decent ones are as low as $60. When you get to your destination sell it (if you don't think you need it any longer). Find a friend who is a AAA member to get you a package of maps and info (for free to members).

Hope this helps.Driving across country.. Washington to NC. Any tips, pointers, etc? ANYTHING HELPS!!?
Did it for Global van lines, 40s alright during the winter, if summer you want to stick to 80 not so damn hot, AZ ain't no fun in the summer, and the Rockies and Sierras ain't that bad anyway. actually very nice sights, nothing to see on 40. dogs will be fine in the cab with you, my pit bull was in the million mile club, RIP, take advantage of the vista points and rest stops for rest room breaks and remember truck stops are the best place for food and a shower then back on the road, I had the luxury of a sleeper cab though, if you can leave a spot in the back of the van to lay your mattress down you now have a place to sleep, yea I'm a cheapskate.Driving across country.. Washington to NC. Any tips, pointers, etc? ANYTHING HELPS!!?
I just drove from Oregon back to California with a new kitten so I can maybe offer some advice on the dogs. Go to every other to every third rest stop and walk/poop them so they're not as antsy but chances are they're going to sleep in the car but exercising them every 100-200 miles will keep them happier.

If you've got the room for a cage in the cab of the truck that would be much better than back in your car. Not that it's going to but if the car broke free or got hit, they would sustain more injuries than if they're up with you.

If they're not used to being in the car except for the vet I'd drive them around a bit before you left so they got sort of used to being in a vehicle.

As far as driving the truck, I've done that 4 times a year for the past 10 years. It's not really difficult as they're automatics. You just have to remember that you need a larger turning radius when you turn and you can't stop as quickly. After about 20 minutes he'll be fine. Just make sure that you adjust the mirrors properly so that he can see.

If you've got the dogs with you in the cab I'd keep the food back in the car and eat when you got hungry. There's only so much room in the cab.

Lastly as far as hotels, make sure they're pet friendly if you're going to stay overnight. Most places charge a small fee for pets but check first.

    Good luck!

Cars like the Chevrolet Tahoe or Denali, but with better gas milage? Used? Where to look?

My father is having me look around for prices on a used Chevrolet Tahoe or Denali, 2008 - 2010, V8 Engine, 4-Wheel-Drive, and "Captains Chairs" not "Bucket Seats".

What I've seen online so far shows REALLY bad gas milage and really high prices.

I'm NOT a car person... If it has wheels and gets me from Point A to Point B, I'm happy... So I REALLY need help on where to look for good deals on a Tahoe or Denali TYPE of vehicle, so I guess my question is 2 fold...

    1. Where should I look for good prices on used Tahoe or Denali trucks?

    2. Is there another, similar, vehicle that has better milage or price?

My father keeps a car until it stops running... He has never had a vehicle that has lasted under 10 years, so I need a quality but cost effective vehicle.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!Cars like the Chevrolet Tahoe or Denali, but with better gas milage? Used? Where to look?
    1. Shop around for prices at autotrader.com and edmunds.com. It will be difficult to get great prices on used SUVs and Pickup trucks as there is a high demand for them and low supply in the used market. This is due to the price of gas going under $3 per gallon and everyone trading back in the 4cyl car they got when gas was $4.50 a gallon!

    2. If looking at a full size SUV, gas mileage is all going to be similar, because they will all have a V8 to help log around the weight of the vehicle. If looking for better gas mileage out of a large SUV, maybe the Tahoe Hybrid, if not would need to go to smaller SUV.Cars like the Chevrolet Tahoe or Denali, but with better gas milage? Used? Where to look?
    Hello there!

    To answer your questions...

    1) I would check out Edmunds.com for shopping for car prices both in your area and nationally. You'll also be able to check out reviews on several light truck/SUVs by actual owners. In my area, I always check out Johnny Londoff Chevrolet (http://www.londoff.com). Great prices and service...and good internet specials.

    2) Have you looked at the Chevy Traverse or even the Equinox? Those get 'decent' mileage but are smaller than size you're looking for...

    I hope that helps...

Two skatebourd hotties+Element skatebourd=one confused Melissa?

Me and my friend were skatebourding at the skatepark/YMCA/park. And the YMCA was making a new baseball field so there was some rock and dirt piles. Well, at the corner of my eye I see a skatebourd sticking out of a rock pile. When I took it out it was an ELEMENT skatebourd with no wheels or trunks(sorry if I spelt that wrong). I was so happy that not only I've always wanted an element skatebourd but my birthday is 9 days away. So I thought of it as my own early sweet sixteen gift. BUT, on monday(2 days ago) Jarrod tells me from across my Algerbra class that he wanted his skatebourd back. O.O Then on Tuesday at dismissel JarrET tells me that it's Chris's skatebourd and he wants it back. o__O So right now I have two skatebourding hotties asking for a skatebourd that I've always wanted. Should I do the right thing and figure out who's skatebourd it is and give it back? Or should I keep it for myself? Or maybe if you have a better idea please tell me.Two skatebourd hotties+Element skatebourd=one confused Melissa?
thorw it away it'll be funny to see they're faces when you tell them that its trashed. but seriously figure out whose it is. then maybe you can ask them if you can keep it for your birthday. that way you can get the whole "hottie" thing under your thumb.

Ive been doin this for 20 yrs now and its just becoming more of a headache than its worth most days. I make ok money during most years, but i ve had lots of troubles this past spring- lost a key employee, lost alot of accounts/customers, tons of repairs needed on trucks and equipment and weather has been putting us way behind schedule. I just dont know if i like doing what i do anymore-most days i just wannna stay home and do nothing. i am lazy, unmotivaed and just so confused.I hate that everything is so unorganized and i cant focus. Work usually goes smooth and i get over litttle bumps, but lately( this year) i cant get anything to go right and it feels like im losing my mind. I cant be happy...i sometimes wanna just sell it off, but ive also put 20 yrs of hard work into this company.

I dont know what im doing anymore- just want some answers.... I want to keep my wife happy and spend time with my kids, but work has me in a mood that i just cant get out of. Too much to do and no time to do it and the stress is building...I dont know what to do.

With my costs of business going up constantly and work just being behind and me not liking what i do, this make the situation worse, since i have no drive or motiavtion to keep up or play catch upl There are too many variables to say weather or not i should get out or stay in, but i just look at my health and well being as well as my hapiness and wonder if im doing the right thing.

My wife has a decent job(but you never know when that could be gone) and with 2 small kids, the stress at home is an added stress that we try to deal with. I just cant take much more of this type living before i have a breakdown

I have seen a dr who put me on zoloft, but thats not helping much at all...I still have all the BS goin on in life and its wearing me down (personally and business)

I just wish things were like last year and were going smooothly.

I dont want to see my wife stressed out over my work as the kids stress her out as it is...its tough for 2 people to both have careers and also raise 2 kids. We never have any time to get things done and its like a list of things to do that have been put on hold around the house because of my work and the kids. I feel lots has to do with me being so consumed in my work right now trying to figure it out and get caught up, but i just never have the energy or motivation to do anything outside of work.

How can i get back my life like it was last year?? what should i do about work? I cant make any decisions at all right now, it sucks. I feel stuck and i just wanna keep my family happy and my health up.

I wish there was an easy way to explain this but thats basically how confused i am.. i feel like i have tons of different pressures from all over and i get out of the hole...I hate dreading going to work, when i use to love the business. When things were different, i like to make a sale and go out and do the job and make $$, but now i dont even have that drive to go to work. Too much on my plate and too many decisions to be made and its wearing me out and making me depressed. Again- i just cant focus. It sucks that this all happened withing a few months time. Guess i just have to figure it out one way or another.. I see other people who are worse off than me and think im grateful, and then i see those who have it way easier or better than me and feel like im spinning my wheels and losing out.

I just want my normal life back and mostly be happy with my wife and kids. That all...i dont wanna end up in the hospital or dead over work- cuz its just not worth it.

Any opinions on my confusing question.??Stressed and losing interest in my small business and starting to affect my health?
I suggest hiring an employee. I know that filing the paperwork and the time in training is / would be a hassle, but if you don't assess your health, you and your family won't be happy for awhile.

If this is not an option, try working only scheduled hours. This will be harder, the longer your business operates. However, another employee would seem like a valuable asset to prolonging the business and allowing you to have more free time.

I won't sh/t you. I don't know exactly what you're feeling like. But I've had a similar experience... If you have been continuing down this road; a dead end if you want to call it that, then it's probably time to do something before it's too late.

Your business, I'm assuming is what's kept you afloat. So, the business failing is NOT an option.

I also want to suggest try using your family as a crutch to motivate you throughout your work day. When I was in the military, it was deployment after deployment that seperated my family over and over again. Before long, it ruined my family... My health was screwed and I didn't care anymore. So I got out.

It's been hell ever since, but that's not the point. Actually the reason why I stopped by was because I was looking for certain aspects of a small business to look out for when expanding... But I think I've found my answer. Thank you.

    Why did our hamster die?

He seemed very happy and healthy too.His cage was always clean,I fed him his favorite food pellets and gave him some treats once in awhile. He used to run in his ball, but it got broke,so he took to running in his wheel more often. He was only 1 1/2 years old and one morning we woke up and he was just dead. What happened?I already looked up "Wet end",and it's not that, what else could it have been? Why did our hamster die?
One and a half years is a pretty substantial life for a hamster. You probably did nothing wrong, his time just came. I'm sorry, it's really hard to loose a pet.
You may want to ask a vet.Why did our hamster die?
well, many hamsters are prone to cancer (sad, but true) - did he have any growths on him? or, he could've choked on something, one of his organs could've failed - any number of things. but he wasn't sick. and it wasn't your fault (unless you caused suvere trauma - another cause of fatality), just know that! i'm sorry he died, but the only way you can have him diagonsed is to take him to the vet
It was probably his time to go. Many hamster do carry cancer and hair lost is one of the sign's or a bold spot. Hamster's don't live that long trust me I should know because I use to have a lot of hamster's. I'm sorry that your's died. Why did our hamster die?
hamsters are what you might call disposible pets they only live 2-3 years and to have one for over a year is good plus you never know how old they are when you buy them
sorry but they don't live that long.
it may have just been his time they live 2-3 years, and are prone to tumours and cancers.
either a heat attack...or sumthing else...im not sure but im sorry for your loss
    heart attack?
All my hamsters have lived for at least 5 years!!! I've had 8 hamsters and I'm only in 8th grade now. Maybe it was a cage problem, the hamster was choking, heart attack, really bad bug bite, bad fall (two part cage), or even old age if you got it old. Sorry for your lost.
    something went wrong
Im sure you did nothing wrong don't worry he probably just died of natural causes coz hamsters are doing pretty well if they live to a year %26amp; a half anyway! They rarely live above 2! Well I'm really sorry to hear that he died, I know how it feels x x x x x x %26lt;3
do you have a cat also??
What type of hamster was it? Dwarf or normal? If dwarf then that's normal. If normal then maybe a heart attack, or banged it's head or something. I'm sorry to hear it died.
In most hamster wheels, specifically, (not balls) they're are two bars that connect to the axis where the wheel turns....If you have one of these, they're could be a possibility that he poked his head out while the wheel was still turning... But thats just a geuss.

They're are alot of other possibilities. I know that you took good care of him, but was water always available? He could've gotten dehydrated, and hamsters, with their small fragile bodies, can die from that.

A bald spot appeared on one of my hamsters... its a sign that he/she is getting old.

1 and a half years is pretty good for a hamster... some live longer or less. One of my hamsters lived for three years and one for just about a year. I took them both to the vet afterwards and the one that lived longer died from cancer, while the other died because of organ failure. It varies.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hoped this helped.

My 21 month old is most likely autistic, can I hear from parents or folks who have or know autistic toddler?

My beautiful baby boy is 21 months. He was a happy, healthy infant who met all his milestones. As far back as October, he had 12 word vocabulary. Now he says no words, no more mama or dada. He does not respond to his name at all. He stares at wheels on toy cars and just spins them. He takes all our shoes and lines them up. I took him to ped and she ordered hearing tests, came back normal. I had Early Intervention team here and he was evaluated for 2 hours and scored very low - 6 months speech - 6 months fine motor - 8 months - emotional and 11 months for something else. We have neuro appt. and more evals but they think it is autism. I am heartbroken. Husband is ignoring this and says "it will pass and I am creating drama". Can you please tell me about your children and how this progresses and how they are doing. I feel very alone here. Thank you.My 21 month old is most likely autistic, can I hear from parents or folks who have or know autistic toddler?
Your husband will come around, give him time.

Your son will teach you something new every single day, you just have to listen to him. The evaluations don't always pick up on the true child. My son's (2 years 8 months) latest evals score his self help skills in the 0.4th percentile, yet non of his evals state that he fixed the sound on my computer twice, or that he can do puzzles faster than me. So I'll be changing diapers for quite a while, but that's not the worst thing that could happen.

These kids are amazing, they see the finer details in life, and can be very content with what is right in front of them.

Let him show you how he wants to communicate, and don't force it. Lovingly encourage him. Keep routines predictable and consistent so he knows what to expect. Don't force eye contact. Recent studies have shown that even typical children have a hard time looking AND listening. When he's not looking at you, he could be listening very intently.

And remember he still is a beautiful, happy, healthy child, who just views the world different, he is still your son. Your son didn't go anywhere. He still needs your love.

    Desiree

Ps. Get him a simon says sit n spin...My 21 month old is most likely autistic, can I hear from parents or folks who have or know autistic toddler?
Well make sure that you keep up with EI they do some great work at getting kids where they should be. As far as him being autistic for the time being until you get some better coarse of action focus on his strong points he like to line shoes up then give him things to line up. I have also herd that pets are a good thing , like a dog. As for your husband just let him be he will eventually come around and figure out that there really is a problem he is probably just in denial.~~ I wish you the best of luckMy 21 month old is most likely autistic, can I hear from parents or folks who have or know autistic toddler?
OK...FIRSTLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!

our six year old son, Thomas, has sever autism. he is still in nappies, has very little self help skills, has NO sense of danger and very poor communication.

he is the most loving, innocent, giving little man who we love devotedly. I'd be lying if i said that 'life was easy' and most days are a constant blur......but he gives us so much joy with the small things he achieves and NO two days are the same!!

are other son Joshua has just turned three. he is in the middle of a pediatric assessment but as with your son, it looks as though he is also autistic. he is far more higher functioning than Thomas but the traits are still there.

you are all at the hardest stage at the moment and over the next few months you and your husband will go through every negative emotion possible.....hate, anger, blame, isolation, depression, hurt...............this WILL pass. although it won't ever go away it will get easier once you know what your dealing with.

we found the biggest lesson to us was to 're-ajust the goal posts' and make the most of every small thing our sons achieve.......resently thomas learnt to blow his nose...might not sound alot but to us it was HUGE!!

my husband is still coming to terms with Thomas being autistic (diagnosed 3 years ago) and he finds it hard at the moment to talk about Joshua. i believe that as women we DO cope better in these situations and we just 'have to get on with it'. men i think find it harder to talk about and often just hope that it'll all go away!!

give your husband time, get some books about autism and get reading. understanding the autistic spectrum will help you and your son. leave the books out but don't pressure your hubby to read them. (my hubby has never read a book about autism and we used to argue constantly about this until he admitted that it was too painful)

take each day as it comes and try not to worry about the future. cry and scream if you want to and talk to people about how you feel. having an autistic child isn't a life sentance, and you WILL cope even when everything seems just too much!!

good luck and if you need to ever talk then my email is open.
I'm not a mother of an autistic child but I work with children with autism. Don't be heartbroken. A autistic child is as beautiful as any other child. Early Intervention is the best and you shouldn't ignore it. The earlier you get it, the better the results will be. I've seen a couple 2 yr olds come in and now I can't even tell that they have autism. One boy is now 3 1/2 and his development seems exactly like my son who is also three and a half. They progress really good when they start early. I've seen older children come in and they progress pretty well but it's nothing compared to the younger ones.

Toyota Tacoma, is the price right?

I have always been a huge fan of Toyotas simply because they last and ther resale can't be beat. However, I've been pricing out a access cab 2 wheel drive model, 4 cyl. with auto, AC power locks windows keyless entry. Decent truck. However, the best price I can find is just about $19,000! For a 4 cyl, extneded cab 2 whl drive truck??? The ford Ranger offers more options in the same truck and can be had for about $14,000. Now I know, Ford quality is not comparable to a Toyota and the resale stinks, but ......

Anyhow pickup a new Tacoma with similar options cheaper? Just a few years back, you could get a loaded Tacoma with extended cab for about $15,000. Why so much more just a few years later? The Camry's Corrollas, etc are all still the same?

Also, are you happy with your Tacoma?Toyota Tacoma, is the price right?
with gas prices forget it,,get something more practicalToyota Tacoma, is the price right?
with that i would buy a used one thats only a year or two old with low miles, rather have used than a brand new ford for the same priceToyota Tacoma, is the price right?
I just purchased an 07 toyota tacoma 2wd, access cab, sr5, all weather mats, door sills, automatic, seat covers, etc and i paid $18,300. No trades, cash payment

  • Chinchilla Cages?

Right, I'm looking for a place that I can get good cages, that don't cost a fortune. 1/2 x 1" galvanized wire, wire bottom with slide out tray, atleast 2 stories, etc. etc. I've tried like 5 different cages, and I'm not happy with any. Petstores cages are too small, and poorly built.. Any clue where I can get some online or something? And where can I get one of those saucer wheels without it costing 40-60 dollars?Chinchilla Cages?
The best Chinchilla cages I know of come from www.martinscages.com. I had one of these cages and was very happy with it.
Sometimes the pet magazines list vendors that have these specific cages. You might try asking a chinchilla email list.Chinchilla Cages?
You may be able to find good quality cages on some websites.

    Here's a few links: http://www0.shopping.com/xGS-chinchilla_鈥?/a>

    Hope I helped!

I really don't recommend using wire bottomed cages with chinchillas. It's really not good for their feet, plus their little hands can get stuck in it.Chinchilla Cages?
I say the altime best cage for a cheap price is the one you make yourself! go to this website:

    http://www.guineapigcages.com/

It's called cavy cage. to those people. to us folks it's called dorm room build it yourself organizing shelves. they come in boxes of ten or twelve sometimes. They are square wire tiles that stick together with plastic connectors. Only about ten bucks a bundle. Look at how many different cages you can make. there is even a section of that site that's not for guineas

    and they have chin' owners.

At Target you can get white ones that come in packs of 23 for $14 each. So for $28 you could have a huge palace!

    good luck.
I didn't like any of the pet store ones cause they're all too small so my dad built me one. I can send you a picture of it if you like and maybe you can find someone to build it for you. It was cheap and easy and Junior loves it! Also, I have no idea where to get a cheap saucer. I've been looking myself.

    10------

    You sound like a wonderful hamster owner!!!!Am I a good hamster owner? Rate me 1-10 :) Thank youu~ ^_^?
    Yes you are!! :P
pretty good. i don't like the fact that he doesn't get fresh fruits and veggies. they need fresh food like any living thing. i would check his store food to make sure there is no BHT, BHA or ethoxyquin as these are artificial preservatives that can sometimes cause cancer. Just google hamster safe food and you get a ton of lists. here's the beginning of one from hamsterific.com:

***Just be careful when feeding your pet because you'll need to start slow. (Feeding your hamster too many fruits and vegetables, too soon, can give him diarrhea.) Begin by giving your hamster a small piece of fruit or vegetable 2 or 3 times per week. After about 4 weeks or so, gradually increase the amount, so that you are feeding him a small piece of fruit or vegetable 6-7 times per week.
What is the purpose of wanting a rating? You need people to tell you how you are doing, to give you a pat on your back--why? Be strong, be independent, be smart, be humble, be true, be the great care giver that you are. Your hammie is the one who should rate you, not another human being for it is not a human being that is living in that cage. Isn't your hammie happy? Do you think he is happy? Don't you know? Can't you tell? Are you not connected to your hammie to know how he feels? Don't seek other's momentary approval, find you own confidence and it's yours forever. You know the answer. Now enjoy it with your hamster.
Youre a good owner! But well hamsters can eat any fruit except really juicy ones it will give them diarreah so stay away from oranges, papaya, melon, watermelon, and cherries! Hope this helped!
It sounds like you are a great hamster owner. 10

Just wondering, are some of the treats you give him veggies. Most hamsters adore fresh veggies, and they are so good for them.
9 because first of all you should never kiss your hamster because it might have some illness that could transmit to you. Also even if you care for your hamster and love him, you don't need to spend that much money on item that is unnecessary like 3 bag of food and 2 hamster wheel ( but that just my opinion)
I think everyone knows that answer, as well as you do. What would you rate yourself? 10/10.

loving your pet makes you a 10
    10,0000 You sound great!!! (:
I would say a 9, primarily because you don't need so many things for him.

I've had a few problems with excess hamster food, including mold, bugs biting holes and living in there, and spoiling. Be careful! Just buy what you need. It's not like Baby's gonna spring into a 100lb hamster overnight and demand all the food in the house :P
10! ONE of THE BEST!! really great caring!
9 - if you gave him fruits and veg then I'd give you a 10 :)

D:%26lt;MY CUZ AND MY FRIENDS R HITTIN/FLIRTIN ON EACH OTHER!!!!?
tell her that her and ur cousin make you feel weird and it grosses you out that they are together or acting like they are together.

    Something disturbing?

I took the bus today and a woman got on with a young child - he looked about 2 1/2 years old. He was a very happy little soul! He was busy counting his fingers and singing "the wheels on the bus go round and round" and laughing to himself. The thing that disturbed me so much was that the mother kept telling him, repeatedly, to "stop making that stupid noise", "stop moving around" (he was sitting in the stroller), "stop laughing at nothing", "if you don't stop making that stupid noise, I'll smack you" - literally, these are the words she used. She also put her hand over his mouth to physically stop him making any noise - she did that a few times. At one point he asked to sit on her lap - she just said "no way - not a chance". I was getting increasingly disturbed by her behaviour - this child was beautiful, happy, singing - joyful even - and I've never in my life heard a mother to tell her child to stop being happy! My question is, should I have said something to her? What would you have done in this situation? I think if they hadn't been on the bus (i.e. in the privacy of their own home), she would probably have smacked him for being happy.

I have two kids of my own and I know how difficult it is sometimes - but this just seemed quite bizarre to me. What are your thoughts?Something disturbing?
I have been around infant since I was 10 years old. I worked in Wal-Mart for 3 years. As you can imagine, I've seen my fair share of irritated parents. My mother for one was the type of mom who was constantly saying "stop fidgeting" "stop singing out loud" "Do you want me to knock your teeth out" "if you don't stop i'm gonna pull your pants down in front of everyone and beat your ***". Now that I have a kid of my own I strive diligently to not use such terms with my son.

However, I often hear my sister using this type of verbal abuse with her own children. She often spanks them just for doing what little kids do. I think it's wrong. She cusses at them and then when they pick up her languages she spanks them severely. I think a lot of the way that people parent their own children stems from the way they were parented themselves. The way my mom treated her children is the same way my sister treats her children. I for one took parenting classes before the birth of my child as to avoid picking up on that style of parenting which is something I would recommend to anyone who had severe type parents. And you are right, I find it very disturbing.
i would have loved to tell her off for being a worthless mother, but its not your place unless the child is being physically hurt in front of you. I swear, pathetic waste of space mothers like that make me feel as though some people should not be allowed to have children at all.Something disturbing?
I really hate parents like that! The child must be used to it because he didnt really seem to react. Maybe we can only hope and pray that it wasnt his mom, maybe just a babysitter who will soon be fired!!!
OMG!! i wud go up n smack that ladi!!

    lol jk

well its really wrong, that a parent doesnt feel happy wen ur child there own blood is happy!! I wudve tlked to her n jsut let her know that wat she was doing was bad!!Something disturbing?
I would tell her to back off!!

i would tell her excuse me mama but, can you [please treat him right!!
That really is disturbing..My cousin in law is some what the same with her children %26amp; yes she hit her children for very stupid reasons but thats why i prefer to avoid her
maybe she was having a bad day. Its hard to tell if you do not know this women and you have observed this just the once. Maybe she was going thru a really hard time.

I would have asked if the child could have sat near me and given her a break. But knowing that she prob would have screamed at me.
unless she actually smacked him i wouldve left it alone
She might have been pissed off at something else which made her in a bad mood, in that case it wouldnt've been a good idea to talk to her. she'd probably shout at you.
i would of said something you just do not tell a kid that to stop being happy
I have seen disturbing things like this in the grocery store. Happy and singing a little song, and the mom tells the child to stop with the racket. Also the other day there was the cutest little boy. His mother had given him one of the free donut samples. After he finished it they were in the check out. He saw the candy and gum and wanted a pack. He was very polite when he asked her showing her one pack, and she told him no put it back because she had already got him a donut. Yet she bought 4 packs of cigarettes. I do not understand some parents.
It might have been a babysitter. But i've been around kids who couldn't stop talking and they weren't doing anything wrong but the constant talk made me crazy. I bit my tongue and felt crazy but still it was there. So it's hard to know what the right thing is to do for a stranger. Maybe if you'd said "that's a lovely song" it might have been enough to save the kids self esteem.
It sounds like she's the type of parent that thinks because she's "MOM" that she can say or do anything to her own child. I would have said something. When she would've told me to mind my own business, I would have told her that by being in public and vocalizing her 'parental rights' she made it my business.

Sometimes pointing out how ridiculous someone is acting can be a rude awakening. That mom needed to feel all eyes on her for her behavior towards her kid
Good example of poor parenting. I have 5th. graders who have parents I would like to kick at times.

Connie Mom of 4 and 5th. Grade Teacher )
sounds serious. I am equally if not more disturbed as you. I have just finished reading a book by a person who used to get abused as a child and it kinda reminds me of this.
I have always been told that if you see something like that u should not say anything. The reason why is that you do not know what this womans reaction would have been. Even though your tone of voice could have conveyed concern for the child, the mother may have looked at it a different way. If possible, what you should have done is called attention to the child, by trying to soothe his crying.
people that ignorant probably wouldnt have listened to you anyway. i wish someone could get through to people like that! honestly i probably wouldnt have said anything. hopefully it was just a bad day : /

How about some absurd hair-brained hockey questions about going to the fair? ?

Whoo- hoo! A State Fair/Carnival is taking place and all types NHL players and personalities are there.

    1) If you saw Eric Perrin making out with the bearded lady, whom would you feel bad for in that situation?

    2) You walk up to the Ferris Wheel. Never being a huge Kings fan, you see Luc Robitaille in line all by himself. He asks if you want to join him, so that he is not stuck in the same car with Ron MacLean (standing behind him). You tell him that you would be happy to join him. Once the Ferris Wheel is at the top, the ride stops to load passengers on the other side of the wheel. While you are enjoying the view, Luc decides to stand on his seat urinate in MacLean, because his booth/car is beneath yours. He asks you to join in the fun and throw your soda on him. Do you get mad a Luc or help him be a misfit?

    3) Gordie Howe is working there at the fair. He guessed you weight perfectly, your age perfectly, and your astrological sign perfectly. Then he whisper in your ear, “Don’t drive home tonight. Sleep in your car.” Do you listen to him?

    4) Mats Sundn is face painting little kids. Unaware of Marts artistic abilities, you stand around for a bit and watch kids come up and request him to paint butterfly, Spiderman, and other kid type objects. Unfortunately, every child walks away upset, with blue Maple Leafs painted on both cheeks. Do you find this funny, or do you suspect that there is more going on in Sundin’s head?

    5) You get on the carousel (merry-go-round) and you see Patrick Roy get on the horse next to you. As the ride is starting, he explains to you that he gets bad motion sickness. Well, after 30 seconds Roy is very sick and blowing chunks all over the place. You ask the person operating the ride to stop it, but you realize that Mike Vernon is at the controls. What do you do next?

    6) Emery is sizing you up while you are sliding into a bumper car. Once the power is on, you notice that he has particularly singled you out, and is repetitively slamming your car. What do you say to get him back for being a jerk?

    7) You stumble across “Sean Avery’s Funhouse”. Knowing Avery’s shenanigans and personal flair (bend pinky), what do you imagine to be in the Funhouse?

Pre-thanks for the answers...sorry for any typos. I broke the rules and had coffee this morning. |||1) awwww. What a cute couple. I think they would both enjoy each other quite well. Let them have at it

2)Wait you mean Luc whips it out in front of me? Ok. That is a start. I might be convinced to dump my soda by Luc. If you catch my drift.

3)I listen to Gordie. He is Mr. Hockey after all.

    4) Mats is sending out his decision with every kid he paints in my opinion.

5)First off Patrick would not sit next to me on any ride. I would deck him first. If he is forced to be next to me and starts that he is getting thrown off by me quick.

6)I would probably sound like a sailor with the four letter word tirade that I would let him have. None of which I can write on here.

7)Well I can see the fashion section , with fashion don'ts from the past and Avery leaping out in your face every few minutes. |||Great questions...your a nut...Let me ponder these!!!

#1. I'd feel bad for the people WHO had to witness that "Hairy situation"

#2.I sure would join in, "Poke some Smot" on the Ferris wheel with Luc the kook , and wiz on Mac too.

#3.like Yoda? "Choices make smart, Gordo" I'd chill, I'm sure he is just inviting me to a killer Carney party after hours

#4.Give him a bag of Swedish fish and tell him if he doesn't make up his mind soon I'm mailing him back to Ikea.

#5.Pull Pat's Jersey over his head so his chunks stay with him.

#6. Toss Patrick Roys puke on him and call in Luc the Kook and Mikey Vernon, to help beat down the most Disrespectful maroon to strap on leg pads.

#7.Have you ever seen a Jersey Shore Guido's House...Like that but with, whoopie cushions and cheezier girls. Plus there are no Mirriors in the fun house, they are all up in Seans room.|||1) isn't the bearded lady his sister? That's just wrong.

    2) Forget the soda, I piss too

    3) why tempt fate? I find another way home

    4) I suspect there is more going on in his head, and I steal his blue paint

    5) I probably puke too, I don't deal well with other people blowing chunks

    6) Careful Ray, I am not a 75 year-old man on the Queensway who will tolerate being pushed off the road.

7 - Nothing I want to see.|||Hey, long time, no see.

    1. Tough one, let me say the bearded lady.

    2. Oh, I'll help him be a misfit. If we get in trouble he can use his money to get us out.

    3. I guess......lmao. What the hell? Is Mr. Howe like psychic?

    4. I just find it funny.

    5. Well, I just let the ride finish then. If Mr. Vernon won't listen to me he has a mess of Mr. Roy's to clean up. %26gt;=)

    6. I say something that is not suitable to be placed on here.

    7. I'm not sure......I guess I'll go in and find out.

    |||1) The fine folks at you-tube who now have to get their customers back. You know this will permanently scar some viewers.

    2) No. I give Luc a nudge and laugh while Ron and Don beat him senseless

    3) I'll just take that bottle away from him.

    4) I see no evidence of anything going on in Sundin's head.

5)Time to slide on out of there.

    6) Clothes-line on the way by.

    7) Avery? Fun? Can't see it, Homes.|||1.) Myself for having to witness that...

2.) I'd probably be REALLY creeped out, and definitely wouldn't help him.

3.) Nope. He may be able to guess my weight, but he's still not a psychic...Or so I think.

4.) There's something going on in his head. Only a nutcase like Sean Avery would do that and make kids upset on purpose.

5.) Well I'd try and shield myself, and wait for the ride to finish. Because if Vernon doesn't listen to me to stop the ride, he's the one who's gotta clean it up.

    6.) How's Russia?

7.) Mannequins with designer clothes on, instead of clowns. Funny pictures of Brodeur with the word "Fatso" spray painted across them. At the end of the Fun House he jumps out and scares people by waving his arms around them.|||1. Myself, that I'm not in there doing it.

    2. Help him out for sure! Hell, I might even drop a hot carl on Maclean.

    3. I run home!

    4. Haha, I still like Mats, it's funny and all cool.

    5. Get off and thank Mike Vernon for keeping it going! Thank f*ck I'm a Wings fan!

    6. "Have your fun while it lasts, you're going to jail soon anyway."

    7. It's actually a brothel, hence the name "funhouse."

EDIT - Just to add to my first answer - remember when Nips made a beard for Freckles? That was HAWT!|||If I going to a fair, may I taste your wares?

1)I feel sorry for the offspring of that unholy union.

2)I finish most of my soda, pee in the cup, then throw it at him. Lemon coke, yum!!!!

3)I'll tempt fate, but first I ask him what the Powerball numbers will be.

4)I think he's doing it to target future draft picks. Either that or we will see him on Dateline NBC: Predator Raw

    5) See, what you left out was the part about McCarty sitting behind Roy, and when the chunks started flying, McCarty jump off his horse and punched him out. After the ride stopped, Vernon hit him a few more times because he was pissed about having to clean up Roy's stomach contents.

6)"So what's it like to get frostbite on your sac in Siberia, loser?" Then I plow right back into him. No backing down.

7)The Metrosexual hairstylist, all mirrors made to look everyone as fat as Brodeur, and a fashion consultant from Vogue.

    |||1) Myself, and any other poor soul forced to bear witness to such misfortune.

    2) What's wrong with Ron Maclean? He gets b*tched out and pissed on by the Don every day. At least he doesn't show up in Detroit and stand on the doorstep waiting for a lead feed or a Stanley cup. I would piss on Lucky Luc.

    3) It is best that Mr. Hockey not be questioned.

    4) I would find it funny that he makes them join him in wearing the Blue Leaf in shame.

    5) I kick Roy in the chest and send him careening into a light pole. Then I buy Vernie a Molson Canadian.

    6) Get a job.

    7) Just him, talking sh*t. It isn't fun, or a house. Just Sean Avery in full gear, instigating things with children. It still entertains him, regardless of age group.|||1) both are equally felt bad for...

    2) *cough* it's pop not soda. lol

i'd probably throw the can at Luc. I don't like when people stand up on Ferris Wheels.

    3) i'd tell him he was finally wrong. i don't have my own car. so HAH!

    4) what a lonely soul he is.. i'd probably just go up to him and tell him that's not exactly the right way to go about trying to get new fans.. lol

    5) ew. uhhh... i'd probably blow chunks just seeing him throwing up.. or i'd get off. merry-go-rounds don't go THAT fast at fairs.

    6) "you ARE aware Russia is the place where players go when you can't make it in the NHL anymore, right?"

    7) it's not a fun house. it's a clothing house... what a trickkk...
