8 months ago i bought 2 dwarf hamsters nd one of them Just died 3 days ago .. they both ate and drank a lot and loved the wheel .. but since the one died the other hasn't even came out of his house , drank anything or been on his wheel . what should i do ?? _X|||thats what they told me when i was planning to get a hamster they told me just to get one coz if u get two and the other one dies, the other one will feel sad and depressed....%26amp; might died too....
maybe just leave it like that dunno... play with him tho =)|||You have to show your hamster that life is worth living. It may sound weird, but you need to get him some fun toys, delicious food, and show him that life outside of his house is wonderful.
You cannot get another hamster because it is impossible to introduce two adult hamsters together. Dwarf hamsters can only bond if they are siblings or were introduced to each other very early in life.

Dwarf hamsters are social creatures and need to be kept together
I would recommend getting 3 or 4 at a time (to prevent too much fighting + if one dies there isnt as big a problem)
I wouldnt risk putting another hamster in there as there is a big age gap. The hamster you have already may well be very teratorial and not accept a new, young hamster into his home

He is still quite young by the sounds of it, so you MIGHT be able to introduce another hammie into the cage because it sounds like your hamster is missing his buddy. My gerbil got depressed and stayed in bed for a few days after his friend died, unfortunatley he is too old to introduce another gerbil. Anyway, I think you should get another pal for him to keep him happy. Get two more possibly... then if it doesn't work out the rejected hammie will have someone to keep him company. If you need more information of introducing hamsters, send an e-mail my way!|||dwarf hamster are social hamsters. they NEED companions. introduce your hamster to a new hamster, but be careful because they may fight cuz they dont know each other.|||The same thing happened to me but my dwarf hamster is fine by himself. you can only get a new hamster only if both your hamsters are from the same litter. otherwise, they will KILL eachother!|||Its just because they grew so close to each other (just like birds) this is why I recommend to have only one pet at a time. Because if one grows to close, and they other dies, the other one will feel depressed. Like what human beings do.
