Don't get me wrong - I still love the band and have since day one. I remember buying the debut album the first day it came out, July 4th 1995 on CASSETTE (my CD player was broken at the time) so I've followed them pretty closely for their whole career.
First, I hate the idea of a greatest hits collection while bands are still active, its redundant to think that if they put out at least another 2 albums that they won't have any more "hits" to match or surpass the previous ones. Besides, the whole idea just makes it sound like you want to call it quits anyway.
I am a little disappointed with the tracklisting, though I do understand its "greatest" hits, so some songs have to be on it, but I wished they pleased the more hardcore fans and not so much the casual ones. I can't believe "Let It Die" was skipped in favor of "Long Road to Ruin". I'm not sure either why "This Is A Call" was selected, its a great song but "I'll Stick Around" was the first video from the album, and seems to have more nostalgia appeal.
Also, the song Skin %26amp; Bones wasn't actually much of a hit, the tour around it was more of a showcase of their songs stripped down, like on the second disc of "In Your Honor". I wasn't really expecting that song to be included.
I've got to admit, I'm fairly tired of Everlong, I know it had to be included, but they've played it to death at concerts and most of us have heard plenty of acoustic versions of it, so I can't say I was happy to have two versions of it on the disc.
"Wheels" one of the new songs, based on the live version I heard, is sort of Tom Petty-ish and not that heavy, I'm hoping the other track has some edge to it.
Overall, I was really impressed with Echoes... it was much better than the last 2 CDs. I dunno, I just think this greatest hits collection is kind of a poor follow up to one of their better albums.Anyone else disappointed with Foo Fighters' Greatest Hits?
yeah, me.Anyone else disappointed with Foo Fighters' Greatest Hits?
I guess they have to put all the singles on there..which would explain 'long road to ruin' being included.Anyone else disappointed with Foo Fighters' Greatest Hits?
No greatest hits compilations do a band justice, it's usually the lesser known tracks that are the real gems for most bands. And those songs don't make it on greatest hits cd's.
It's just a cash in to sell more records.
Only one song from In Your Honour, should have added "D.O.A.".
