Dwarf hamster help please?

my hamster is 2 years and 3 months old (i know this cause i got her from my friend whose hamster had babies). i was just wondering how long they live. also as she has gotten older, i have noticed that she is losing her fur on her tummy/back and legs. she no longer has any on her legs. is this normal? she is kept in a VERY clean cage and always has fresh food and water...any ideas? she is still happy, and runs on her wheel all day/night.|||well generally dwarf hamsters live about 2-3 years so unfortunately your girl is getting pretty old.. as far as the hair loss it could just be age, an allergy and sometimes when they are overweight they lost hair in areas of friction like under the belly and legs. To get a better idea on tha hairloss you could take her to a vet but i say as long as she is happy and acting normally let the old girl live the rest of her life happy and not probed by a doc.|||dwarf hamster, depending on their health when you got them, will live 1-3 years, mine have always lived about as long as yours has so far. some of them lose hair i've heard, but mine never have. you may want to double-check her for any lumps/tumors/swelling on her legs and back, jsut to be sure it's not something more severe than old age.

keep close watch of her diet and excersise like you are doing and she'l live as long as possible.|||Give yourself a pat on the back for being a good pet owner because that is a fantastic age for a dwarf hamster. On average they live between 18 months to 2 years, so she is above the average age. Syrians, because of their size live on average a little longer.

The fur loss is perfectly normal and all part of the ageing process in hamsters. Also with age they thin out, and their faces can take on a much more pointed look. You have nothing to worry about.
