How do I know if my hamster is happy?

For christmas my older sister said she would help me get a hamster. She said this because I had at one time wanted to try caring for one, but my mother was not a fan of rodents. So after christmas my sister and I went and got a russian dwarf hamster. We got a cage, food, ball, and a wood chew thingy. I had only left the hamster alone for the 1st day and on the 2nd day I stuck my hand in with food and it would nip my hand take the food eat it and walk away. I kept doing this once or twice each day and on the 4th day it just came to me with out the food. She seemed to like me more than anybody else in my family because I was the only one she wouldnt't bite. I noticed though that she never uses the wood stick I gave her and usually chews on the bars of the cage, so does that mean she dosent like the wood or that the cage is too small. When Ileave her alone I see that she would run a lot on her wheel, eat ,burrow, and well move suff to the way she likes it, but she mostly just burrows.Well today she seemed to not like me as much as the past days, because Istuck my hand in and she would just run away from me. I only pick her up when she is awake and only if she wishes to. Also when I had to clean her cage I put her in her ball to roll around and she would just sit there and usually she runs around everywhere. When I ad finished cleaning her cage she didn't seem to want to come out of the ball so I held my hand out and she crawled onto it, but as I was putting my hand in the cage to put her down she strated squeking and then stopped once she got in the cage. My hand was flat so Icouldn't have been holding her too tightly. So why was she squeking. She seemed to be acting diferently than usual lately so please can some one give me advice. Am I caring for her correctly? How do I know if my hamster is happy?

It needs to be living with a Russian Dwarf thats your problem right thereHow do I know if my hamster is happy?
What cage do you have? What toys did you get none? Hamsters don't like balls, and if she's squeaking it means she's: scared, lonely or frightened. When she's chewing on the cage, it means she's bored to death, she can't find anything else better to do. Also, are you sure its a female? If you've only had it a couple days you could buy a new one. But you do not want to get a pair of female Russian dwarfs, only a pair of males. But I think it's best you leave her be, she'll be okay on her own. You just need a big cage and lots of toys.
well sometime hamster like alot of attention like a baby ... and i think after u cleaned the cage it was not firmary to the smell it had to re-adopt to it all over thatz all i think it like you u can tell if there not happy they squeak that means they cry
