Is it selfish and cruel to have children?

This isn't my argument btw. Please don't just call it stupid, because you're the one being stupid. Please refute this argument and use critical thinking.

1. To have children is to inflict suffering. To have a child is to rape and torture. If humanity has one million children, X amount of them will be raped and tortured. How do we know? For the last 40 years X amount of children have been raped and tortured every year. If the conditions were present the last forty years, why wouldn't they be present this year? If you want to assume children won't be raped, then you might want to disband the police force because their might not be any crime next year.... All parents are accountable for every child's suffering because no parent can provide the conditions needed to prevent suffering. Saying that parents aren't accountable is like saying a gambler isn't accountable for losing a million pound bet in a game of roulette. It wasn't him, it was the roulette wheel. If you keep gambling over and over, eventually you're going to lose. Losing represents suffering in this analogy.

2. There's no negative consequences (That you know of) of having children, or to continue the human race. Having children based on the baseless assumption of negative consequences existing is like pushing someone in front of a car and saying "I assumed you wanted injury benefit?"

In legal terms, this is called a "Justification". There's no justification.

3. Having children is, by definition, selfish and cruel.

Btw, happiness is irrelevant and is not something to base your actions on because...

1. Absence of happiness isn't a problem if it isn't being deprived. The keyboard is absent of happiness, should I rape a child so it can be happy?

2. You can't prove children before life were happy anyway. You don't have to prove this if you're not basing your actions on this assumption. And if you still don't want to prove it them withdraw your argument because it doesn't refute the conclusion (Premise three).|||Your logic is analogous to suicide. Let's just all never have children and wipe out the human race, in hope of no suffereing.|||I think your views on this, are a bit negative. If you continue to have negative thoughts like this on certain subjects. That just means, that your letting (the what if) stop you in life. No one said you have to have kids to be happy. But, you need to stop dwelling on these things; and just learn to think about positive subjects. Because, no one goes around talking of these things. It can be quite uncomfortable to talk about in conversation with others.|||"Please don't just call it stupid, because you're the one being stupid"

I'm not answering your question because you called me stupid. Go eat a scooby snack.|||Having children is certainly selfish...we do it for us.

If we judge life itself to be bad/sad/wrong then we shouldn't have children. If we see life as good/exciting/rewarding then I guess we might want to share it.

How we raise our children shows what kind of people we are.|||I see you have no plans to have them in the future.|||YOU never have children for that will be cruel and unusual punishment|||Okay I actually do get your point somewhat but that doesn't mean your right. What I personally think is, just like plenty of kids get raped and totured, there are other plenty that are happy and loved. Yea it hurts/sucks but if we work to teach are children to be humain that just might bring down the amount of kids it happenes too.|||If no one ever had kids then the human race would end. Yes I see your point that many new lives means more suffering because some will get hurt or die after being born. Although you forget that many lives are happy and successful with no real major suffering (except maybe 1 broken heart in life).|||You are arrogant and this entire rant is a logical fallacy. Look and the mirror and you will see what I am talking about.
