Ebay dispute re wheels + tyres I sold and feel cheated - can anyone offer advice please?

Hi guys

Basically I sold a used set of alloys with tyres on them last month for 拢400 via ebay. I arranged delivery to the winning bidder. 7 days later he gets in touch saying he is not satisfied with the tyres on the car and that they are not legal. They were in decent condition and were certainly not illegal with approx 3mm of depth each. I said I was not prepared to offer a refund/discount due to him taking 7 days to even contact me in the first place. In my mind, 2/3 days would be reasonable but given that they are a wearable product could have been used etc. 7 days seems excessive.

Anyway a dispute was opened with ebay and they have just emailed their final decision in the buyers favour. Basically he gets to return the wheels for a full refund!

Im not happy as they were as described with big photo's of each etc. and given that they could have been used considerably, (particularly 5-6 weeks on now) dont regard the decision as fair.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks|||"Is there anything I can do?"

Unfortunately not.

Over recent years, eBay has become heavily biased in favour of buyers. This means that problem buyers can get away with anything they wish, by ripping off honest sellers.

It's the main reason I no longer sell on eBay.|||I'm sorry, 3mm of tread is okay? No. I would return the items too. Unless you listed specifically that they had that little tread left you are at fault. I'm guessing you didn't because eBay doesn't just hand out refunds for purchased items, and there really is nothing you can do in this case.|||You should have asked sensible price for them - if the tyres only had 3mm tread left they were not worth anything - probably 拢200 tops would have been a fair price for 4 wheels with nearly worn out tyres.

Put them back on Ebay at 拢250 or Best Offer.|||the real question here is ...did you describe the tyres as only having 3 mm of tread left ...whilst they are still legal ...and photos can be deceptive ..they are pretty well shot ...go to a tyre depot and look at the tyres they have just taken off to replace ...most will be close to 3mm ...whilst you are probably in the right i dont think you can win|||you will never win, my opinion is that its an auction if you want new go and buy new.

if you described the wheels accurately stating how much tyre tread is left then its buyers fault.

i wouldn't do anything personally id just take the bad feedback. but if i forgot to mention certain things like only 3mm left on tread which i know would make a buyer unhappy i would seriously think about compromising i.e giving him 拢40-拢50 a tyre. im not getting on your back here but if you go out spend 拢400 on a set of wheels with tyres and have to put another 拢220-300 to use them that's nearly 拢700 on wheels and i take it there is p%26amp;p on top. you would feel robbed and wished you'd of purchased them from a store. if you refund some of the money to help pay for some tyres surely everyone will be happy|||My experience with ebay is once they make a decision, even if its WRONG, there is no point in crying over it. Any energy spent worrying about something you cant change is better spent elsewhere.

I always try to err on the side of caution when selling something for that reason.

When you use their site, ebay IS your God and you must go by their rules %26amp; decisions.

That said, Ive been using ebay for many years and the vast majority of my transactions, on both sides were smooth. Ditto for paypal.

One time I had paypal pretty much confiscate the proceeds of an item I sold because they determined it "might" have been a scam buyer.

I was LIVID but in the end, after the buyer contacted them, they did reverse the decision and gave the money back.

Whats funny is the guy was an FBI agent. And they thought he was a con-man.
