I'm looking to getting a putter and don't know how much I should spend. I basically don't intend to play on a golf course as my balls go all over the place and I'm not a fan of walking around.
I go to the golf driving range and there they have a putting green. I never owned a putter so now I got to get one and don't know which kind to get? Basically I think I'll be happy with the single rectangular piece of a putter but I see pictures of 1-ball 2-ball. First I don't know what that is. Second is it golf-legal? Third is it better. Fourth is it more fun.
Plus am I being old fashioned to use a regular old-style putter and good old fashioned at that. The purpose of a sport is to challenge you not baby you and I don't think I like the idea of training wheels on my putter. What do you guys think I should get? Thanks.|||If you are really new to golf and never owned a putter before, your best bet is to go to Walmart or target and get a cheep putter, until you learn to put, get a longer one if you are tall, the 2ball or the mallet putters are better for begginers but if you are if tend to over shoot the hole frequently then you might want to try a blade putter. everyone will debate which one is better(blade or mallet) but it comes down to personal prefernce. you can go to a golf store and play around with all of them and just pick which one is most comfortable. the best Blade putter money can buy is a Scotty Cameron. A good Mallet putter for your money is an Odyssey 3ball(it is fairly cheap and has great control but it is HUGE) and yes it is legal.|||Go to your local golf club and ask them to find you one that complement the contours of your hands and is of good height.
It is not the golf club, it is who is swinging the piece of alloyed metals|||Go to a golf store like ***** sports or golfsmith .Here they have a putting green, were you can try out putters.Find one that feels good to you..they also have someone there to answer questions.|||The most important thing about choosing a putter is getting something that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
I would recommend that you visit some golf shops or speak to some pros and try out putters. Dont buy on the first visit. It is an important purchase.
Hit a number of putts with a number of putters.
Personally I am a traditionalist and feel better with a traditional Ping putter. However the Odysey putters are well balanced and popular.
They are very legal, as will all putters your local pro is selling.
With regards to pricing. In the UK decent putters cost 拢60-拢150. So decide your budget and only look at putters in that range, that way you wont see something you love but is too expensive.
However the higher price doesnt mean it will be best. I used a putter that cost 拢10 and was the best I ever had. Sadly I lost it.
