Hamsters dont really have toys and you don't really know if they're happy. :(
How can I tell is Hammy is happy? He sometimes sleeps on his back which I think its cause he's content, but I dont know!
He has a huge playpen which is the whole area under the stairs. He has a cage with a wheel which I leave open. He mostly lives in his shoebox. He has 2 shoeboxes and 4 toliet rolls as his house. I give him tissue as bedding.
I hope Hammy is happy. I hold him and play with him. Sometimes I do TUG O WAR with his tissue. And I like poking him. He's not a very agile hammy though. He's a clumsy and figidty hammy. And he doesnt lie on his back on my hands :(.
But he holds my finger with his paw :)|||I agree, it sounds to me that Hammy is pretty content.
For them, it's nothing better than something to nibble on, positive attention, and a good touch or two.|||Yes he seems very happy. It sounds like you have a great set up for him. Playing with him makes him very happy so he should be a very happy hamster.|||toilet paper tubes and cardboard boxes are their favorite toys. Sounds like you have a very happy hamster. You can also give him whole nuts in the shell as a toy to keep him busy or a chunk of corn on the cob. Small wooden blocks, leather shoe laces, empty pringle can with the metal bottom removed. Anything they can chew on is a potential toy. Old socks (attach it to the side of his cage), toilet paper tubes stuffed with goodies (like peanut butter and bird seed, or nuts, or whatever he likes), Palm branches or bits or non toxic fronds (i have a small indoor palm tree when the fronds turn brown i give it to my hammie to shred), whole leaves of lettuce, mustard greens, collard geens(clip to the cage and watch him have a hayday shredding it). Good job you have a very attached, happy little hamster.
