Why my steering feel heavy when turning after i have just had wheel balancing?

i have a vw polo 1.2 i have recently had new front tyres and tracking. i have noticed that my steering wheel has been vibrating a lot and the garage says its because i have new tyres. i went to a different garage today cause i am not happy and they said i need wheel balancing so i had that done and now my steering feels really heavy. does anyone know what could be causing this thank you|||No. Steering tracking and balancing will not affect steering weight. There is simply no connection|||Some "low quality" (excuse the political correctness, I meant to say Cowboy) garages leave tyres over-inflated after they have been popped onto the rims. Sometimes the tyres need the extra pressure to 'bead' onto the rim and should be subsequently deflated to the correct pressure. Given the fact that the first garage did not balance the wheels correctly (which is a simple enough thing to do) then it will be worth asking the second garage if they adjusted the tyre pressures. Over-inflated tyres give you lighter steering than correctly inflated ones, as over-inflation reduces the contact patch between the tyre and the road. If it transpires that the first garage messed up the balancing AND allowed you to drive away with over-inflated tyres (which is very dangerous) then you need to report them to the Department Of Transport.|||Wheel wobble or vibration is as you suspect caused by imbalanced wheels.

Having a heavy steering may be from incorrect tyre pressures or incorrect wheel alignment, as you have had your alignment checked and adjusted that would leave the pressures.

BUT you say the first garage that did the alignment and fitted the new tyres also did a balance but said the vibration was from new tyres? but the second garage rebalanced the wheels, I would have the alignment checked but the second garage and if it is found wrong then maybe see if you can go further with it to reclaim your first costs.|||you have been scammed twice suck it up and go to a vw specialist not necessarily a main dealer. there is no link between anything you describe, unless the tracking has been reset miles out of true
